Angels Class-July 23, 30, and August 6

Missed a class? Listen to the audio here!

The purpose of our class over the next three Sunday evenings is to examine the impact of the Bible’s teaching on the topic of angels.  You will find that angels are very prominent in all the religions of the world, especially Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.  Eastern religions describe them in their literature too.  It is universal for human beings to recognize angels or angelic like creatures interacting with us in the world.  The recommended text for the class is Billy Graham’s classis devotional book called Angels.  I ‘ll refer to it from time to time but not teach from it.  The book provides an easy overview on the biblical teachings involving these special messengers from God.

Our first session concentrates on looking at angels in modern thought and appreciation.  You may be surprised to learn that much of that is not biblical or helpful.  We will finish this initial class with an overview of what the Bible actually teaches us about them.

Our second session focuses on good and bad angels in both biblical and non-biblical literature.  This is where we derive most of our ideas on the devil and demons.  Again, much of this information, while popular, is misleading or false.  The second half of the class focuses on Satan himself or what may be called “the case of the fallen angels gone wrong”.

Our third and final session brings us back to the importance of acknowledging angels in their proper place.  Angels, correctly understood, may offer much spiritual and intellectual comfort to all of us.

We plan to record the classes which will be held in the sanctuary for listening on our web site.  Please invite your friends.  The class is appropriate for middle school aged children, teens and adults.  We intend to begin promptly at 6:30 pm each evening and conclude no later than 8:00 pm.   A short period of time at the close of each class will be provided for questions and comments.

Clothes Closet

The FBCC Clothes Closet is now part of the Crofton Christian Caring Council and serves residents of Crofton and its immediate surrounding area. It is located in the basement, accessed by the main doors that lead to the sanctuary. The clothes closet will reopen the fourth Saturday of each month.
